Sun Beat Films is run by a husband-and-wife team — Britt and Miah Idema. For Britt, Maui isn't new; she grew up here till she was 12. After more than a decade filming weddings together across California and internationally, we made the decision to move back to Maui, to raise our kids with island heart.
That means when we talk about "home," we mean it literally. We know the way the trade winds shift in the afternoon, which beaches are uncrowded at certain times of year, and why golden hour on the west side feels different from golden hour in Hana. We bring the same cinematic storytelling that's earned us international recognition to every Maui couple we work with — grounded in a place we've loved and are now building a future in.

We’re based in Haiku and film weddings throughout Maui, including Wailea, Kaanapali, Kapalua, Upcountry, Hana and locations across the island. Because we live here, we’re familiar with Maui’s changing light, weather, landscapes and travel times.
